The Legal Profession in the Media

I admit it. I am one of those law students who grew up watching legal shows for fun. Far before Jack McCoy, there was Angela Lansbury as the curious Jessica Fletcher and Andy Griffith as the hot dog loving, ever so clever Ben Matlock. Now, I'm a proud fan of all the Law & Orders, Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Without a Trace, and occasionally Boston Legal. I came across this article about the 25 Greatest Legal TV Shows and thought it was brilliant.

Have a favorite? Feel free to share!

  1. Murder she Wrote---hands down.

  2. Damn...forgot about Matlock. That was a classic.

  3. I find that they are fun to practice the rules of evidence. But my wife no longer watches tv with me...

  4. L&O Minor property offenses and misdemeanors

  5. gotta nominate the wire. along with generally being one of the greatest tv series ever, it had, among others, a tenacious prosecutor, a judge cutting backroom deals to make sure justice was served, and a shady defense attorney. it showed how the law worked in the real world, for better or worse. and watching it is also a great way to study for crim pro.

also, a separate thread might be required just to discuss which law and order is the best...

  6. The Wire is on my list of shows to begin watching!

Law and Order: SVU = my favorite

  7. Detectives Stabler and Benson FTW!
